What can you truly say about, that you actually know. How many things in your life are you sure of. And how many other things you thought you knew then it turns out that you didn’t; you just thought you did. That brings me to a conclusion. That we really don’t know much. There are only a few things we can say we do know. The rest. We think we know. Until proven otherwise.
We grow up and we learn along the way things that we end up taking for granted. For example, we learn about manners and how to behave in public. Our parents teach us that. We learn morals and values that we end up using everyday and in almost everything. We get to learn with life; experience what honesty really means, how trust is very important and the value of family and friends. Life teaches us how important something was only when it’s gone. We get to learn the hard way most of the times. It is in our nature to experiment and to try. It is in our habits to test ourselves to the limit. We learn as we go and we grow as we learn.
Having said that, somewhere along the line we confuse our learnings and life experiences with given facts and certainty. Sometimes, you learn the wrong thing from the wrong people. Sometimes you experience extreme circumstances. And sometimes, it takes a long time for you to come across a situation for you to learn the correct lesson in life. Therefore, it is safe to say that even our own experiences are not the end-all-be-all. There is always something you haven’t done, something you haven’t dealt with, someone you haven’t met, a lesson you have yet to learn.
So what do we really know for sure. We doubt everything with time. And the way things are going, we start to doubt our selves. We already started to doubt GOD. Our belief system is all over the place. What once was certain, no longer is. And people ask: ‘who are we? Where do we come from? How did it all start? Were we created? Or did we go through an evolution? And if there is a GOD; which one is the right one? Or all they all right? Is there really heaven and hell? Who knows anymore?’
The confusion level is on high. There are more questions than answers. Everything we were taught seems hazy. Who do we believe. Does everyone has a second agenda. Are we being lied to. Have I been brainwashed. Who am I and where do I go from here. What do I really know.
And so just as I am sure that many people are confused and questioning what they truly know, I am certain there are people out there who truly believe they know everything. And they can back that claim up with evidence and proof. To each their opinion, I guess. We must respect each other’s beliefs. But that does not mean we have to believe or follow the same. Every person has the right to choose what they want to believe. If you think you know it all. Then okay. Suit yourself. Life will teach you anyway. And if you think you don’t know anything anymore and it all seems messed up. Then okay too. Life will show the way and the answers will present themselves to you.
As for me, I choose to believe in GOD. I choose to believe in Destiny. And I choose to believe that I don’t really know much in this life. I’m just beginning to understand. And the paths I take along my journey are my only teachers. I choose not to trust the media. I choose not to follow anyone. I choose to trust my instinct and my gut feelings. I choose to accept that I am not a perfect being and that all will be revealed in due time. I no longer think I know. Because I really don’t. It is up to you to choose now. What do you really know?
