Can you forget a LOVE by another LOVE?

Ever had to deny your feelings because you thought you were doing the right thing? Ever had to pretend to be just friends with someone you have been in love with for as long as you can remember? Ever had to find a way to distract yourself from this forbidden or doomed love, that you got yourself in a bigger mess with their replacement?

The thing is, you will soon figure out that you can’t forget a love by convincing yourself of another.

You can’t replace someone with another.

You can’t pretend to love.

And you can’t pretend you don’t.

You can try as much as you can, to suppress your feelings, justify them, or even rationalize why it will never work.

You see, a lot of times, we create more problems and bring about more complications when we are not honest with ourselves. When we believe we are doing right by everyone else and neglecting our feelings.

Sometimes, it is best to walk away. Other times it is best to let it out in the open even if people get hurt. Sometimes, it is better to hurt a little than to get into a deeper mess. When the truth comes out, it hurts a lot. Who knows by then how complicated things have become?

In situations like these, we don’t think clearly, do we? When we are placed in a tough spot, some of us prefer to escape the confrontation and lie instead.

We lie to ourselves first before others. And then we are caught up in covering the lie with more lies. And the cycle continues until one day, it all blows up. And who knows by then, how far things have escalated and how many hearts are involved.

Inspired by a show, I had to write these words, for someone out there who may be in need of hearing this. If it’s you I am addressing, then know this: the universe is sending you a message. A clear message:

Do not deny your feelings.

Do not sacrifice your happiness to secure someone else’s.

You may be doing more harm than good.

You may be robbing yourself and everyone involved of the chance to experience true happiness with the one the heart chose.

Be true to yourself. Be true to your feelings. Be true to others. Sometimes, it’s not about how the story ends, but how it begins.
