The Predictable in the Unpredictable

You know how it feels knowing that something crazy is about to happen. Yet you have no idea what it is. Well, that’s the predictable in the unpredictable. What you are about to experience is so unknown, unexpected, and unimagined that it is anticipated, aka predictable. Does that even make sense?

Maybe not. But here is the thing.

Life has taught me that no matter how much I think I know something, I am reminded that there is more to know. Other times, when I am certain about the direction I’m going, life decides it’s time to teach me another lesson I didn’t know I had to learn. Who can relate to that?

Maybe you experienced this. Perhaps experiencing it right now. Here is some comforting words, if I may.

You see, you can plan all you want. Down to the last detail. And then. Life happens. What you thought was a sure thing became a whole other thing. Then you decided. Hey, why don’t I just let it be. Let’s see what will happen. Let’s see how it will unfold. You surrender and become comfortable in the unknown.

The unknown is now your friend. It’s no longer a thing to fear. You begin to trust the unknown. For you have developed faith that this unknown will always come through. Whether you like the outcome or not, that’s a different story.

It’s never been about obtaining a desired outcome. It always has been about embracing whatever the outcome shall be. Knowing that you can handle whatever is thrown at you. Who said it needs to be easy or free from challenges? That’s boring anyway. What fun would life be if everything worked out so beautifully? What lessons would you learn? How would you know how far you can go or what you are made of if you were never pushed just a little more out of your comfort zone?

Magic happens in the unpredictable. Life happens in the unknown. The one predictable thing you can count on in that unpredictable is that you will always find a way. You will always figure it out. You will always learn something. While it’s not all the time yet, sometimes your life can take a totally different turn in those moments. And you may never be the same person after.

The choice you make is whether you wanna stay in the comfort zone or embrace the unknown. For there is growth in the latter and stagnation in the other.

There is a familiar in the unpredictable. It’s that feeling of knowing that even though you don’t know where you are headed, you will be just fine. There is comfort in that predictability. And when you start to freak out the next time you are facing the unknown, remember this. Even the unpredictable has a predictable side.
