Learning to ask for help

I am an individual who had a hard time asking for help and receiving in general. It’s been a lifelong challenge and mission to improve. I struggled for most of my adult life asking anyone for help unless it was a dire need. I was adamant on being self-sufficient and totally independent even if I had to suffer. I couldn’t see past my need to take care of myself and to never need anyone or depend on anyone. There are reasons for this Continue reading

Decision Time

Every day we face making decisions, some are insignificant, some serious while others; detrimental. Indeed, there is a wide spectrum of decisions that we ultimately make throughout our lives. Each one has the potential to change the course of our lives. While some, we give too much importance to unnecessarily. In this life, we learn ever so patiently when to take things seriously and when to lighten up. Continue reading

Stand Up For What You Believe

If I may humbly give this advice to everyone out there. I know it is hard sometimes because our circumstances may seem stronger and out-powered. We always have a choice in which road we take. Sometimes, we think it’s easier to keep quiet, and follow even if it is against what we believe or desire. We may think, it’s okay to make an exception or that it is for the betterment of others. We sacrifice Continue reading

Understanding the storm after the calm

How many times have you heard or said the statement: “the calm before the storm”. It’s a common phrase we say when things seem to be moving smoothly and without much problems. But that doesn’t last for long. This period may last from days to weeks and if you are lucky; a few months. We tend to focus our attention on the serene and comfort state we feel while in the back of our minds anticipating havoc. “It must be on its way,” we say. We know things aren’t Continue reading

Are we awake yet?

Today marks the third year since my grandpa passed to the spirit world. How fast the time went by. So much has happened since then, in the world, and in my own life. There is no way I could have predicted I would be living these times. Neither did the world. A year ago when I was contemplating the effects of Covid on humanity, I anticipated a shift in our consciousness. Today, a year later, I wonder, are we awake yet? Continue reading

Living Out My Purpose

I write this piece in total inspiration. It all happened while I was in the shower, the hot water spraying on my back. I dived under the water with my head and it all came flooding through. I knew I had to put these thoughts down on paper as soon as I was done. Here I am sharing my inspired thoughts. Continue reading

Travel when you are young

Don’t wait till you get older to start travelling. Don’t wait for the perfect timing. Don’t wait till you are finally free, the kids have grown, you retire, you pay off the house, you have more money; whatever excuse you keep on giving yourself for postponing your travelling. Travel when you are young and healthy. Don’t wait till Continue reading

The Disease

We see it in the news, we read about it in newspapers or in social media feeds, we hear of it from people we know or don’t know; but we never think it could happen to us. We sympathize with those who get affected. We recognize that it is now more common than ever before. We know it’s possible that anyone can get diagnosed with any disease at any time in their life. But we still don’t grasp the idea Continue reading

Conditioning

How do we comprehend the term conditioning? I am talking about behavioral conditioning. There were several theories and experiments done by some of the most famous philosophers and thinkers. Edward Thorndike and Pavlov to name the few. Their work and research has influenced our educational curriculum and disciplinary guidelines. Conditioning has become Continue reading

Divided Attention

We all have things in our lives that we focus on more than others. And naturally so. You could be after accomplishing a goal or after the person of your dreams or after obtaining the best the world has to offer. And while it’s totally fine that you pursue your dreams and go after your goals, don’t loose sight of what’s truly important in your life; what you do have. Don’t allow your attention to get so divided that you can’t seem to appreciate the little things, the present moment and the current people in your life, for the bigger things, the future and the people you wish to have in your life.

The wait is over

So you plan for something and it seems like there is lots of time until the moment you have waited for. There is anticipation, anxiety and some expectation.  But nothing happens the way you imagine it. Events unfold in ways you never thought it could. You wait and you wait and sometimes you think there is still lots of time to do this and say that. Little did you know, time is passing while you are not paying attention. It’s actually faster than you thought. The moment comes and the moment goes. You only realize it after it had passed. And the wait is finally over. Continue reading
